We participate in the early spay/neuter program. We require the cat be kept indoors only. Microchipping is available. Your kitten will come with all its initial vaccinations. The vaccines used are the "CORE" vaccinations recommended by the American Association of Feline Practitioners and the Academy of Feline Medicine (AAFP/AFM). We want our kittens to have the safest and longest life possible.
If you plan to declaw your cat, we cannot provide you with a kitten. Declawing may seem like a simple thing to do. But it is actually comparable to removing the last digits of your fingers. Ouch! Later on, declawed cats may exhibit aggression, other behavioral problems, or stop using the litter box due to its association with pain when digging in the gravel. Declawing is never an answer. Training your cat to use a few strategically placed scratching posts (rubbed with catnip), and lots of praise and patience is the answer.
If you are interested in a kitten, please email us early. We will then conduct a phone interview with you. You may be placed on a mailing list once it’s determined that your home will provide a safe, loving family for a life time. A deposit will hold your kitten. Kittens are released to their new homes between 12-16 weeks of age. No sooner please. Research shows that a kitten’s socialization skills are developed between 8 and 12 weeks of age. A gradual transition from the strong maternal bond to the social world of playing with its siblings is ideal. We do everything in our power to provide you with a healthy, friendly, loving kitten. Then you take over with lots of love, and positive reinforcement of the behaviors you wish to develop and maintain! Again thank you for your interest in Nancoon Cattery! We have no new kittens at this time.
